The best way is to visit the cities that best combine history, culture, architecture and nature to create iconic urban landscapes. For those who need help choosing their next travel destination, Flight Network launched The World’s 50 Most Beautiful Cities, its list of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The Canadian air ticket purchase service consulted thousands of tourism journalists, travel bloggers and travel agencies around the world. They incorporated their opinions to elaborate “the most thoughtful and definitive list of the World’s Best Cities,” according to their website. “A guide that will inspire travellers not only in 2019 but for years to come.”

From Well-Known Picks to Surprising Ones

Paris, New York and London occupy the first, second and third place in the list, respectively. No surprise given the popularity and vast cultural offer of the three destinations. From there the list gets interesting with Venice and its channels in the fourth spot, surpassing the monuments and cafes of Rome, which landed in tenth place. The Canadian city of Vancouver closes the top five with its combination of buildings, green areas, mountains and beaches.

Three more locations in the United States join New York, for a total of four cities on the list. Three Spain cities landed on the list, with Barcelona in sixth place, Madrid in at 27 and San Sebastian in 42nd place. Canada tied with that Hispanic nation in number of cities on the list. The Latin America region was represented by seven cities, with Rio de Janeiro being the highest on the list in 15th place.

Other countries appear on the list of the most beautiful cities in the world, but not with their usual candidates. Mexico occupies 39th place, not with Mexico City or Cancun, but with San Miguel de Allende and its Parish of San Miguel. India made it on the list, not with Agra and its Taj Mahal, but with the pink city of Jaipur.
