Uruguay Considered as Possible Hub for Tourism Companies

Montevideo, Uruguay

World tourism authorities considered Uruguay as an excellent platform for the installation of new tourism companies.

This statement comes from Maribel Rodríguez, regional director for Europe and Latin America of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), according to an EFE article. The executive spoke during a meeting she held with the tourism authorities of the South American nation.

The meeting was headed by Liliam Kechichian, Uruguay’s Minister of Tourism, who was accompanied by Benjamin Liberoff, Deputy Minister of Tourism, as well as Juan Martínez, president of the Chamber of Tourism, among other officials. For its part, the WTTC was represented by its president and CEO, Gloria Guevara.

Uruguay and the World Travel and Tourism Council Event

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) was founded in 1991. It’s the only organization that brings together all the main players in the travel and tourism sector, which allows them to speak with one voice before the governments and other international entities.

The WTTC’s general assembly will hold a global meeting on April 18 and 19 in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Maribel Rodríguez, executive of the WTTC, said that this event is considered one of the “most important at the tourist level,” which is why he visited Uruguay: to promote the presence of tour operators and government authorities of the country in this great event.
