Universal Horror Unleashed: Fear Escapes the Parks to Vegas

Universal Horror Unleashed, AREA15, Las Vegas, Nevada

Universal will bring its iconic brand of horror to Las Vegas, not just the fear of losing all your savings at the casinos. The entertainment company took advantage of this year’s Halloween season to reveal the name of its new permanent entertainment facility: Universal Horror Unleashed.

This initiative comes from Universal Destinations & Experiences, the division in charge of Universal theme parks around the world, as well as seasonal events such as Halloween Horror Nights. The experience will take up residence at the AREA15 entertainment complex in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

What to Expect from Universal Horror Unleashed

According to their press release, Universal Horror Unleashed will be Universal’s first permanent horror experience outside of its theme park attractions. Like other experiences within AREA15, this one will mix interactive installations with bars, restaurants and shops.

Universal Horror Unleashed is another way we are using our unique style of horror storytelling to engage fans of this genre,” said Page Thompson, President, New Ventures at Universal Destinations & Experiences. “We look forward to bringing frightful fun to Las Vegas year-round.”

The installation will be renewed each season. Always with that horror touch the company refined through scary Hollywood franchises. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, Halloween, Jaws, Chucky, The Thing, The Purge. The list goes on.

Sin City’s Redemption

Universal Horror Unleashed will be the first offering based on Universal’s new strategy. A focus on expanding into new markets, as well as attracting audiences outside of their parks in Hollywood, Orlando, Osaka, Beijing and Singapore.

The city of Las Vegas became famous for its luxurious hotels, huge casinos and legendary bachelor parties. However, this initiative, along with other recent developments, shows how the city is changing in order to attract tourists of all ages. Another example is the recently opened Sphere venue, a spherical structure covered inside and outside with high-resolution LED screens. They allow it to change its outside appearance or the entire environment around whatever event being held inside. The venue was launched with a series of U2 concerts that take full advantage of this visual resource.

Universal Horror Unleashed is expected to open in 2025.
