Don’t have time to waste during your Disney parks visit? Now you can skip the lines at your favorite rides more easily with the new Disney Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Disney Lightning Lane Single Pass.
Since FastPass in 1999, Disney parks have offered virtual express lines. Disney Genie+, the current express line service at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, relaunched on July 24, 2024 as two separate passes.
About Disney Lightning Lane Multi Pass
The first, Disney Lightning Lane Multi Pass, lets you skip the line during a set time at three select park attractions or experiences per day. Unlike Genie+, you can choose your express experiences days before arriving at the parks, as well as at what time you will enjoy them.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass is available for purchase from the My Disney Experience or Disneyland Mobile apps. Each will inform you which attractions are available with your Multi Pass.
Like Genie+, the price ranges between $15 and $30 depending on park and demand, which does not include admission costs. Each Multi Pass is valid for one person only, non-transferable, non-refundable, and subject to availability.
About Disney Lightning Lane Single Pass
This second pass replaces the Individual Lightning Lane on Genie+. With it you can skip the line during a certain time period at one of the newest and most exciting attractions in each park.
The following Walt Disney World rides work with Lightning Lane Single Pass:
- Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, TRON Lightcycle/Run.
- EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage.
Inside Disneyland, the Single Pass gives you fast track access to these attractions:
- Disneyland: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
- Disney California Adventure: Radiator Springs Racers.
You can purchase your Disney Lightning Lane Single Pass from the My Disney Experience or Disneyland Mobile App. Each guest can obtain up to two Single Passes per day.
Like Genie+, prices range between $10 and $25 depending on park and demand, which again do not include admission costs. Each Single Pass is valid for one person, non-transferable, non-refundable, and subject to availability.
About Disney Lightning Lane Premier Pass
Disney is further expanding its time-saving options with the new Premier Pass.
Similar to the Universal Parks Express Pass, with Disney Lightning Lane Premier Pass you can skip the line on every Lightning Lane attraction within the park once per day, without the need to reserve your ride on the mobile app. This goes for all attractions offered on both Single Pass and Multi Pass.
For now this option is offered exclusively to official Disney Resort hotel guests. Price varies by park based on demand and ranges from 130 to 450 dollars plus tax.
Advantages of the New Passes
Disney Lightning Lane Passes include additional benefits compared to Genie+.
You can Buy Them Before Your Visit
Disney Genie+ could only be purchased on the morning of your first Disney park day. With both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, you can get them up to three days in advance with your purchased park ticket or Annual Pass.
If you also have a reservation at a Disney Resort or affiliated hotel, you can request your Lightning Lane passes up to seven days before your first day in the park, for a 14-day stay total.
Attraction Photos Are Included
These Passes also include a limited version of the Disney PhotoPass service. You’ll receive digital downloads of photos and videos of yourself captured at select attractions throughout your day.
Disney Photo Filters Will Remain
Disney PhotoPass Lenses, augmented reality filters included with Disney Genie+, continue to be available in your Disney park mobile app with your pass purchase, so you can take fun photos and videos during your visit.
Regular Disney Genie Will Still Live On in Your App
Disney Genie, the virtual assistant within your park app, will still be available to generate suggested itineraries or activities and help you with your reservations, all for free.
Caveats
Please note the following before requesting any Lightning Lane pass:
- The service is exclusive to Disney parks in the United States. Other parks have Disney Premier Access, with different mechanics and prices.
- At the moment, those who do not reside in the United States or Canada will not be able to reserve Disney Lightning Lane passes until they are present in North American territory.
